Arbon Socks - Autumn 2019

Dear Customer Welcome to the second Arbon Socks catalogue. I would like to introduce two new styles to you; the Cumbria Contrast and the Frome Fairisle sock. The Cumbria Contrast is knitted from British alpaca blended at Town End with Blue Faced Leicester wool from farms around the North West. This substantial dress sock comes in seven bold colours with contrasting heels, toes and cuffs. The Frome Fairisle wool sock has traditional motifs and is knitted from Falklands Corriedale sheep wool which is soft and bouncy. Both of these unique, British-made socks are made from natural fibres which are more comfortable for your feet and kinder to the environment. A few months ago, I moved to the beautiful Somerset town of Frome next to the Mendip Hills and I am really enjoying living in a vibrant place and meeting such creative people. As this catalogue goes to print, we are about to move into our new offices and shop in Frome. Frome has a long history as a centre for dyeing and weaving using water from its rivers and wool from the surrounding countryside. The new photographs for this year’s catalogue were taken at locations around Frome. These include the Silk Mill, which is a Victorian textile mill, and amongst the quirky medieval streets of Catherine Hill, and Cheap Street, which has a leat running through it carrying water from the stream beneath St John’s Church. Since I took over John Arbon Textiles’ sock business early last year, John and Juliet Arbon have continued to spin lovely yarns for me, help with new sock development and offer their experience in planning sock production. As always, there are some updated socks and new designs which were not ready in time for the annual catalogue. Please have a look at the website for the latest product range or subscribe to the email newsletter for occasional updates. I hope you enjoy wearing our socks!
